Mini Fixator Distraction Protocol

Step 1 – Insert allen wrench into end of distractoras shown in photo A. Start with end of wrench pointing straight up. (at 12 o’clock as shown in photo B) Make sure wrench fits securely into octagonal nut at end of the distractor, as shown in photo C.

Step 2 – Firmly grasp end of allen wrench and slowly rotate wrench in a clockwise direction a half turn around until wrench end is pointing straight down. (at 6 o’clock as shown in photo D) End of wrench should now be pointing straight down as in photos E& F. This will give you a ½ mm distraction per day. Do this once a day (around the same time each day) for a period of _____ days as directed by your surgeon.
